Paging
Your ESI phone system can be programmed to allow paging through an overhead paging system and/or paging through some (if page zones have been created) or all of the system’s Feature Phone speakers.
Overhead paging
The instructions for using the overhead paging port vary, depending on which ESI system you’re using.
- On any ESI Communications Server — To use the overhead paging port, you must first create an overhead paging key by assigning code 5 9 9 to a programmable feature key.
- On an IVX X-/E-/S-/C-Class or ESI C-Plus system — To activate the overhead paging port, you can dial either 1 9 9 or 5 9 9 (which one of these codes you use depends on the system you have; see Note, below). You also can assign that code to a programmable feature key.
Note:
If you don’t know which system you’re using, contact your System Administrator.
If the ESI phone system has been connected to an overhead paging system, you can page by pressing the programmed key (or, on an IVX system, dialing the code) and making your announcement after the tone.
Paging through phones
Press PAGE 0 (the PAGE key is also the # key) to page through all of the ESI Feature Phone speakers — or press PAGE and then enter a programmed paging zone, such as 1 or 2 (see the System Administrator for a list of page zones). Pressing 0 pages all zones. The Installer may have added an overhead page system to one or more of these page zones. The number of available zones will vary according to which ESI system you have.
Notes:
Phones in use or in do-not-disturb mode won’t carry a page through their speakers.
An ESI Cordless Handset carries a page only through a connected headset.
Paging for pickup of an outside call
To page someone to pick up an outside call:
- Place the call on hold by pressing HOLD.
- Verify the line number from the display.
- Page the person and announce the hold location for retrieval. For example:
“Sarah, you have a call on Line Two — Sarah, Line Two, please.”
